Strictly Content Cleaner Wordpress Plugin

Strictly Content Cleaner is a very basic Wordpress plugin that converts textual links such as http://www.strictly-software.com into proper clickable anchor tags like www.strictly-software.com as well as converting youtube.com video URI's into object and embed tags.

This plugin was designed to handle a specific customer of mine who copies and pastes content from an email into his Wordpress articles and doesn't know how to use the editor within Wordpress properly. Instead of changing content each time the article is viewed with a filter it corrects the content as it is saved by changing the article so that any textual links are corrected and any existing links are left alone.

Installation

This section describes how to install the plugin and get it working.

  1. Download the plugin
  2. Unzip the strictly-content-cleaner.zip file
  3. Upload the directory strictly-content-cleaner to the /wp-content/plugins directory on your WordPress site
  4. Activate the plugin through the 'Plugins' menu in WordPress
  5. That's it! Try it out by copying a textual link or a youtube.com video URL into a post and saving a draft copy of the article. If it works you will see a proper link and a video instead of the original text links.

The plugin is hosted on the Wordpress Subversion repository and if you are looking for the most up to date version you should check there first to access the individual files in the trunk.
